For applications that involve clusters of monitoring sites, the Fastcomm RTU can act as the master satellite communication and control terminal in a star or hub and spoke topology. The local network of monitoring sites can be hardwired back to the Fastcomm RTU. Alternatively, over longer distances, short range radio links can be used, using low cost, self contained miniature radio transmitters from Radio Tech of the UK. The RTCom Integrated Sensor Technology Transmitters consist of radio transmitter, controller, data interface, transducer and antenna all housed in a self-contained IP 68 enclosure to give a cost effective alternative to using cables even over the shortest of distances. The built in battery gives an operating life of up to 10 years.
