TDS Recon

The Recon ruggedised PDA, manufactured by Tripod Data Systems (USA) is the only PDA capable of withstanding the rigors of use in extreme outdoor environments, where the ability to withstand heat, humidity, rain, dust, vibration and dropping is critical. For this reason, the Recon is widely used by military, emergency response, construction, mining, survey and utilities personnel around the world.

Recognising that the Recon PDA is often used in remote locations where cellular wireless connectivity is unavailable, Fastwave has developed an Iridium Satellite enabled version. This version enables 2-way data and text transfer between the PDA and base or HQ, irrespective of location.

When supplied with integrated GPS, the Fastwave Recon can act as a personal navigation and personnel tracking device. For military and emergency response applications, this capability can provide enhanced situational awareness and blue force tracking.

When used in conjunction with FastComm in its wearable configuration, the Recon provides an integrated interface for text, data and voice communication via Iridium satellite. A Bluetooth headset enables hands free voice communication, whilst the Recon touch screen provides dialing and text messaging functions.
