Safety and Security
The FastView system offers more than knowing where a vehicle, vessel or aircraft is located. In addition to the wireless panic alarm supplied to the driver, pilot or operator, the system has comprehensive safety and security monitoring capabilities when used in conjunction with vehicles, vessels or aircraft equipped with Fastwave tracking hardware.
FastView has been responsible for significantly enhancing the safety and security of employees and contractors working in remote or hazardous locations. For this reason it has won the following safety awards in 2008:
- The Australian Pipeline Industry Association Safety Award
- The Australian Fleet Managers Association Safety Award
- The West Australian Chamber of Minerals and Energy Industry Safety Award
Safety Monitoring Capabilities
FastView can be customised for specific client Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) issues relevant to remote area environments. These system capabilities are based on Fastwave's advanced geo-fencing technology, and include:
- Safe driving speed monitoring according to road type and hazards, eg monitoring vehicle speed compliance with limits established for gravel roads, access tracks etc. The system automatically logs speeding events, and sends email and SMS notifications based on the severity of the event. A daily report is emailed to safety supervisors for prompt follow-up, and weekly and monthly spreadsheet reports automatically generated to enable KPI trend monitoring, driver profile analysis etc.
- Enhanced journey management procedures through automatic notification of departure and arrival of vehicles at designated destinations
- Driver fatigue management support through automatic notification of when mandated rest breaks are overdue, and logging of these events for ongoing driver profile analysis.
- Road hazard alerts can be delivered to the driver for permanent or temporary hazards. For example, an alert can be automatically generated within the vehicle to notify the driver of a known hazard, such as a road/rail crossing.
- Emergency response notifications via SMS and email can be generated when emergency response vehicles or aircraft, eg an ambulance or rescue helicopter are within a designated distance of target destinations such as hospitals or airfields, facilitating the co-ordination of emergency response resources
Security Monitoring Capabilities
Geo-fences enable the monitoring of vehicles, aircraft or other mobile equipment with reference to specific geographic boundaries.
This enables automated SMS, email and Google Earth display alerts to be generated when the mobile asset moves in or out of the designated boundaries.
Typical applications include:
- Alerting for deviation of hazardous material transport from approved routes
- Compliance monitoring of heavy road transport according to designated routes
- Alerting for the use of hire vehicles, plant and equipment in un-authorised locations
- Alerting for deviation of aircraft movements from flight plans
